moved in June 23rd...well its a begining

the bed is made so we can go to sleep in our new room, still full of boxes but its our roomThe livingroom, one end

Alan very tired from the move today, I think he helped carry boxes in.

the other end of the livingroom comfy...it will get there.

the other end of the diningroom

the stove is in place for the propane fellow to come and hook it up, he had a little problem with his arm today.
So that is most of our stuff moved in. It feels like home.

It will be fun when Kel, James and Maggs get here to enjoy walks on the beach, and fires and all that cottage stuff. I get tomorrow to unpack and get things situated and as ready as I can for their stay. Can't wait til Saturday, don't worry Kel I won't forget to pick you all up at the airport.

We just love our little cottage....more pictures to follow

Alan's new ManCave, the new floor and cabinets etc

the dirty overalls they wore under the cottage and salvaged lumber

The shed ready for storage

more storage area
looking into the neat storage shed-aka Alan's new mancave-he thinks he might start to smoke a pipe again so he'll have a reason to hang out there. I said put the dartboard up and he'll have company.

Our closet at the end of the bedroom, proud Mr Fixit. just look at that floor!!!

The new bathroom, waiting for the plumber to come tomorrow

the diningroom floor....so pretty

The livingroom floor and the new stove. Fridge comes Friday

The kitchen floor and new cabinets in place but waiting for the plumber to put in the pipes, the counter top doesn't arrive til next week sometime so we'll be using paper plates til the sink is put in. Harold did a wonderful job-Alan was in awe while Harold actually read the instructions, one box at a time....good ole Ikea. Great job Harold!!!!

another shot of the diningroom floor....they really are so pretty, the picture below is what the colour is.

Well I guess that is it for today, tomorrow the movers are going to come bright and early(I hope) and the plumber and the propane fellow to put in the hot water heater and hook up the new cooker. This is so exciting....we are having such fun.

Oh yes and we have 4 weddings on Saturday to prepare for.

And Thanks to Mary for being so patient with us at the shop and a very Happy Birthday tomorrow!
Taa taa for now all talk again later

moving day june 22 2011

Hi All
today is moving day...we packed and packed and were ready for them at 815 am. We got a call to say they have had a breakdown and it will have to be put off til 1pm... okay....well that's pretty okay, but it will be finished late tonight-meaning another late night.
Last night at 5 we went down to see our new floors, we opened the door and the dining room floor was rolled out but curled at the edges....not done, kitchen not done, bathroom not done. How disappointed were we ? Well very, but all things happen for a reason. So today they are in there finishing the flooring and the movers will be there later this afternoon or after supper.
We bought some heaters, as we don't have the furnace working to heat the place to dry the floors, and keep us and our soon to arrive visitors warm. But things are looking up the temp is going up to 20 next week so we'll have summer weather for them.
Alan and Harold are at the cottage today putting the kitchen cabinets together in antisipation of the floors being finished and the move completed.
And so it goes at Sanddollar Cottage talk to you all again soon, if we have internet, it has been acting up the last few days. our new phone number is 902 962 2708
I'll post pictures soon

Sunday june 12th

Sorry Kellie, the flooring had to come out so they could put the plywood down. Its out in the shed if you want to go for it when you come down. Alan took out the cupboards and walls and put in insulation. This is the kitchen.

still the kitchen

I spent the day painting, primed both bedrooms and put on one coat of cottage white in the little bedroom.

the plywood is laid in the livingroom, looks great doesn't it, next week the floors are laid (jun21)

the laundry room has plywood too

The boys laying the plywood in our bedroom, a strange uneven floor needs tlc.

I didn't get to finish priming this room as it was time to lay the plywood

This picture is alan in the bathroom, he doesn't realize the toilet is gone- looks like he's getting sick, but he's checking the boards where the toilet will go. The boards had to be replaced as they had rotted from the old toilet leaking.

And what's worse he got Harold down there to look too. Aren't they silly, looking under the cottage at what they have to do, like a couple of moles. Glad its them and not me going down there.

Well I guess that's it for today, it was a beautiful, sunny warm day here. We worked hard and enjoyed every minute of it. Boy it will be nice to go to the cottage and relax.

Really looking forward to having Kel, James and Maggs come to visit and who ever else wants to come.

Jun 11, 2011

hello all, things are moving on at the cottage. We have made some purchases, a vanity, sink & new toilet, the stove. The plumbers came in and took out old toilet and sinks, so now we wait for the floors to by plywooded and then flooring installed on Jun21st. Then the big move on the 22nd. Alan has all the walls in the kitchen pulled down and put in insulation, then plywood will go up.
We are painting and getting things ready, tomorrow the plywood goes down, the nail gun has been rented, Alan and Harold will enjoy the toy. I will be painting.
Our reward for all the work will be a bonfire, hot dogs and marshmallows. Hee hee!
I'll post more pictures as things progress.
still need to pack up the apartment for the movers to move.....oh my goodness!!!!

june 1st 2011

this is what the ceiling looked like after Alan and Harold took the flu out and repaired the roof.

this is what it looks like now almost completely repaired.. Good Job Alan!the old wood from the bookcase sure came in handy.
It looks great doesn't it.

Now for you all who said why would you want to replace those cabinets....here are a few pictures of what they really look like and you will see why we are replacing them.
The heating vent is in the corner with open fiberglass insulation not a good thing. upper cabinet.

This is a vent in the lower cabinet we are not sure if it was for heat or air return but this is no longer attached to anything, but was left there very ugly.
This next shot shows the vents in all their splender. Really yucky! its all going this week.

This is under the sink, no shut off valve for the water and look at all that mould!!! not good

Very ugly cabinets. The new Ikea ones are white and will be off the floor so they can be cleaned under and very neat. We still haven't chosen the countertop. Will keep you posted.

Today we had the floor installer in to measure and see what has to be done to have the flooring installed. It went very well and he'll let us know when the flooring comes in and when they can do it. In the mean time there has to be 5/16 plywood has to be put down in the living room and bedrooms and any hole filled.
