Our new door

today was so nice in the morning

the sun coming through the trees lovely fall colours

these are the trees that border our land and the parks day road

Alan has the door off and is measuring for a a piece of wood to go in to fill the space from the old door jam

this is how it looks from the outside.

I have taken all the metal siding off the wall

the new door patiently waiting to be put in place

the big hole and the siding is gone. New insulation and then wood siding is going on the wall

the old doors, they sure weren't airtight

these were under the old door jam, an icecream spoon and some beer caps. Things you always have at the cottage.

Alan is putting in the threshold for the new door

they put the door up and had to get it straight and even. It was hard to get level because the house is NOT level.

still working on a plan to get it level so it opens and closes easily

looks pretty level

Lindsey and Bob helped Alan. those Newfoundlanders are so great to help out.

Alan bowing to the master, Lindsey

The door boys what a fanstastic job fellas!

and look its still sunny and warm.

now we have to head out to Charlottetown to get our handle and lock, something we overlooked when ordering the door.

So, while Alan and Lindsey went to get the straw to bank the house I put in the handle and lock.

what a lovely door and it lets in a lot of light too

A little finishe work on the inside and it will be done but that will be another day.

Oh my goodness things are shaping up for a nice warm cottage this winter.

Well thats another day at Sand Dollar Cottage, the waves were calling us today, it was quite windy at the shore but we had to work and when we came home from Charlottetown it was raining.

that's all for now.

  2. The simplicity of your door made it absolutely beautiful. It is not too fancy, yet it looks pleasant. The glass part of your door would also let natural lighting pass through, which would be good for saving electric costs. It is also a good security feature because you can immediately see who is outside, without having to open the door. Just make sure you’ve got a tough lock holding the door!
